I have noticed the last months all these small semi-colon tattoos popping up all over the internet. Mainly on wrists but also behind ears, legs and on ankles. After a little click to Dr.google I was really interested to find out about 'The Semicolon Project'.
The semi-colon project is a battle against self-harm or those supporting others who are struggling with self-harming, depression, bullying, suicidal thoughts and anxiety. It has become popular not only with young people who have overcome self-harming but with many teachers who witness first hand young people suffering each day and want to raise awareness.
The semicolon itself, is a very clever symbol representing - where the sentence could have ended but didn't.
Everyday thousands of young people around the world, struggle with depression, anxiety, self harm and suicidal thoughts. So many have gone the extra mile and tattooed the symbol on themselves as a permanent reminded of what they have overcome.
The semi-colon mission statement is clear - "We are trying to raise awareness about self-harming. We are a group of people who will listen to your stories and help you get through any tough time, answer any questions and give as much advise as possible. Together we can get through anything."
In support of the semi colon project, I am offering to tattoo the semi-colon for May and June for
